Background

ICOAS 2018 is the sixth of its kind. After three Scientific Conferences on Organic Agriculture in Central and Eastern Europe held by the Czech Bioinstitute under the name Bioacademy in Lednice na Moravě and Prague, in 2012 organizers agreed to broaden the scope of the conference and launch an international scientific event for organic agriculture research located in Central and Eastern Europe. ICOAS 2013 was hosted in Hungary, followed by ICOAS 2015 in Slovakia.

For the first time ICOAS 2018 will be held in Austria. After a longstanding collaboration in various agricultural fields the FiBL Austria and Esterhazy Betriebe GmbH decided to host ICOAS 2018. Eisenstadt, located in Eastern Austria is the perfect location for ICOAS – building a bridge between Central and East European countries. Moreover, Esterházy Palace was chosen as the conference venue because of its charming facilities.
